The Great Belonging Project: Day 7

“Sometimes I think of loneliness as a sort of mindfulness bell calling me to query my senses. If I am feeling lonely in a particular moment, I ask myself, What am I seeing, tasting, touching, hearing, and smelling? Are there any connections between my senses and this particular feeling of loneliness? How can I engage my senses so I can have a more significant connection to myself and this present moment?” - The Great Belonging: How Loneliness Leads Us to Each Other

One lovely way to belong to yourself for The Great Belonging Project: Day 7 is through breathwork which is simply a conscious change to your breathing patterns.

Breathwork has been shown to:

✔️boost mood

✔️deepen relaxation

✔️improve alertness

✔️promote creativity

✔️soothe emotions associated with grief and trauma

✔️reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and stress

I highly recommend:

😮‍💨Experimenting with different types of breathwork to figure out what feels best for you. There are so many options.

🧘Practicing your preferred breathing technique a few times each day.

❓If you’re not sure where to start, try a guided breathwork exercise which you can find easily online.

📝 Take notes along the way to help you notice how breathwork helps you belong to yourself and move toward greater integration of the body, mind, and soul.

🥰 ALSO: When we belong to ourselves in healthy ways we can belong to others in healthy ways.

Happy breathing.💚
