The Great Belonging Project: Day 20

“Singing is a communal act. This is obvious when we are performing with choirs or singing at church on Sundays. It’s not so obvious when we sing a hymn alone in our cars on a Tuesday afternoon while running errands. But I believe my off-key, butchered rendition of ‘From the Depths of Woe’ when I’m on my way home from the grocery store is also a communal act. It connects me to others who have sung the hymn throughout the ages.” - The Great Belonging: How Loneliness Leads Us to Each Other

Did you know creative activities and social connection share some of the same neural pathways in our brains?

Its true. This might be one reason making art and being creative broaden our belongings.

For The Great Belonging Project: Day 20, set aside 15 minutes (or more!) to write, paint, collage, sing, dance, take photos, play with a recipe, curate something amazing (or something not so amazing) this evening or one day soon.

20 days down, 10 to go.

Are you thinking more about your loneliness and belonging? I hope so.💚

What do you want to create one day soon?

Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments, if you like!
