The Great Belonging Project: Day 18

“Our church had been established with the belief that Jesus welcomed the friendless; over the years, those of us in this group had devoted a great deal of energy and time to being available to those who are suffering. We were diligent as we tried to figure out how to minister to the outcasts and the sick. But when everything began to fall apart, we realized we were the friendless, the suffering, the outcast, the sick. We needed Jesus to show up for us too. And he did. He showed up on David’s back deck while we gathered in our grief and ate and gossiped and laughed and cried.” - The Great Belonging: How Loneliness Leads Us to Each Other

Choose love and belonging over hate and bullying.

Also. Conservative Christians are welcome here. I used to be one. I am happy to share space with people with whom I disagree. But I have no interest in arguing about this issue.

My hope is that more churches will become places of love and belonging for all people.
