The Great Belonging Project: Day 15

“The performance of The Voyage, sung by a combined choice of members aged nine to ninety, used music to explore feelings stirred by the aging process. While writing the words for the chorale, librettist Charles Bennett found inspiration in the various stages of life, how we encounter voids we need to cross, from childhood to adolescence to adulthood to senescence….he wanted the lyrics to rouse the performers and listeners and produce within them a sense of yearning and joyful connection.” - The Great Belonging: How Loneliness Leads Us to Each Other

Re-watch a favorite film and consider Steven Spielberg’s words from last night during the Oscars on how films (and all genres and forms of art) can help us belong to others, ourselves, and different versions of ourselves For The Great Belonging Project: Day 15.

“At the very best, films can do more than entertain us,  they can open our hearts to each other, they can show us ourselves they can shine a light on where we’ve been and make us think about where we are going.”

Thank God for the films and other art that help us feel less alone.
