The Great Belonging Project: Day 9

“Admitting I struggle with loneliness, talking about it, and writing about it have helped me let go of shame. When we perceive loneliness as a common condition instead of some sort of unique abnormality, we are less likely to be ashamed. When we participate in conversations about our loneliness, its triggers, and its balms, we have opportunities to offer empathy. And when this happens, some of the power it has over us is destroyed. Otherness dwindles, boxes collapse, belonging swells. Here’s to destroying the power of loneliness.” - The Great Belonging: How Loneliness Leads Us to Each Other

Say it out loud to someone you trust.

The more we talk about our loneliness, the less power it has over us.

The more we talk about our belongings, the more we will notice them and receive good things.

Who can you talk to about loneliness and belonging? Choose someone you trust, someone who helps you feel safe.
