The Great Belonging Project: Day 2

“...I can open my eyes and give my attention to the slices of creation around me. I can behold God’s glory revealed to me through ways unique to my place–even if it seems less exotic than a beach or the mountains or an island with a lighthouse. And when I see and receive the gifts of nature, I am reminded that I belong to my place, to this world, to our God.” The Great Belonging: How Loneliness Leads Us to Each Other

Place attachment is a real thing and being outside helps us feel less alone. Increasing our belongings to our places can soften the effects of relational and circumstantial loneliness.

For The Great Belonging Project: Day 2 go outside and take notes. You can notice a lot in 5-7 minutes but stay longer if you like.

What do you see, hear, smell, feel on your skin? What is growing or trying to grow? What happens to your breath and heartbeat as you sit outside and give your attention to this place?

Share an observation in the comments if you like. It might help others to know what you noticed outside. And it might help you feel less lonely if you take a minute to share.
